West Michigan VITA Collegiate Partnership

Students from West Michigan colleges and universities formed a partnership to recruit and train students to prepare tax returns for the IRS-sponsored VITA program.  Our student and alumni volunteer preparers come from Aquinas College, Cornerstone University, Davenport University, Hope College, and Grand Valley State University.  Recently MACPA (Michigan Association of CPAs) members in West Michigan have joined with us to deliver free tax preparation services to underserved populations.  The students volunteers gain practical experience in tax preparation while benifitting from the expertise of their CPA counterparts.

As a relatively new partnership we hope to encourage more people to invest their time and talents into their local communities.  Outr efforts complement other community groups such as TCE, AARP and county-wide VITA coalitions who likewise provide tax assistance.
